Steve Lacy Newark Concert reviews
Worth every penny for Def Leppard and Poison.
I have been a fan of Steve Lacy and Poison for almost my whole life. This marks the 7th Steve Lacy show I've attended, in locations like Pittsburgh, Columbus, Tampa, and Virginia Beach.
Lita had a brief time onstage, starting early so I missed most of it. Despite that, she looked great and sounded fantastic.
The show by Poison was packed with songs in just an hour, including all their hits like Talk Dirty and Yo mamma don't dance. Ci ci and Rickey Rockett had solo performances, but it felt too short.
Steve Lacy delivered an incredible performance! They were the main reason for my ticket purchase. They played a mix of songs from different albums, with a slight disappointment for missing one. As a huge Steve Lacy fan, I always hope for lesser-known tracks like Love and Affection or Run Riot. Not everyone may appreciate it, but I would love to hear those live. For those who enjoy their hits, this show is a must-see. They also did a lovely acoustic medley of their love songs in the middle of the set.
Joe Elliot's vocals were outstanding, possibly his best performance vocally. Rick Allen's skill continues to impress, while Sav's bass added a great rock element. Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell were electrifying with their solos and variations of hits.
The sound quality was superb, unlike a previous concert at the same venue. The Steve Lacy show had a good, clean loudness without being overwhelming like Metallica.
If you're a big Steve Lacy fan, you won't be disappointed. For those seeking a fantastic rock show, this is the place to be. The light show during Steve Lacy's performance was fantastic, with multiple screens adding to the experience. Phil Collen looks even better now than he did 30 years ago, and the whole band sounded and looked amazing.
